Moth Night 2021

Moth Night 2021 is coming soon and once again we have acquired expert David Brown to run a moth trapping evening for us.

Whilst butterflies are widely loved and appreciated, moths unfortunately don’t receive the same limelight as a result of their largely nocturnal life, making people unaware of their impressive beauty.

Moth Night is a scheduled couple of nights in the year to introduce moths to new audiences, share knowledge on their ecology/conservation and to encourage their study. Light traps will be running for many hours in the night, attracting a variety of different species. The theme for 2021 is reedbeds and wetlands; these are important habitats for many species throughout the British Isles. July is a particularly diverse time for moth populations in these habitats so why not join us at Brandon Marsh and see what is on the wing.

Moth recording is a fun activity to introduce you to a new realm of the wonderful wildlife out there, so please do come and join us for as little or as long as you want throughout the event.
