Restoration work took place on the Lime Tree Avenue and around the Monument to the 29th Division on the A45 at Stretton-on-Dunsmore.
The work was funded by Highways England and carried out by Kier. As well as defining the Avenue more, it included the planting of three new lime trees that are dedicated to Officers from the 29th Division who were awarded the Victoria Cross. Also the area around the monument itself has been resurfaced and wildflower seeds, including red poppies were sown on the roundabout.
As a part of the restoration works, a detailed survey of the lime trees were undertaken to assess their condition. The trees were scanned (similar to an x-ray) so their internal health could be viewed.
