Cock Robin Wood

Explore this little Warwickshire Wildlife Trust managed woodland with a large pool, filled with tadpoles in springtime.

What’s it like to visit?

Wander through the wood to discover a range of habitats lots of different plants and animals. The large pool is home to an assortment of aquatic life hiding among the water-lilies and pondweeds. Frogs, toads, moorhens and dragonflies breed here, with fascinating water boatmen and diving beetles.  Some paths can get muddy, especially after heavy rain so bring your wellies if you have them.

  • Look for frog spawn in early spring
  • Spot the carved trail markers
  • Make a journey stick: a memento of your walk from collected fallen items
  • Sniff the scent of water mint at the pond edge
  • Spot colourful berries in Autumn

Reserve history 

Created on arable farmland on the edge of Rugby, this reserve was created on land donated by Sainsburys, to mitigate the building of its nearby supermarket.
